During a meeting of tech titans at the White House yesterday, FarmVille studio Zynga cofounder Mark Pincus asked President Obama to pardon controversial NSA document-leaker Edward Snowden, according to a CNN source.

Obama reportedly responded by saying he could not do that, though no further explanation was provided.

The Washington Post also reports that one member of the panel asked Obama to pardon Snowden, though it does not specify who made the suggestion. Other tech executives in attendance included senior officials at Facebook, Twitter, Apple, and Google.

A Zynga representative declined to comment.

Snowden, a former NSA contractor, has since fled the United States and is living in Russia on a temporary basis. Most recently, documents leaked by Snowden show that American and British agents infiltrated World of Warcraft, Second Life, and Xbox Live to hunt terrorists.
