Today, images of the device have leaked, SamMobile reports.

Called Gear VR, the headset may be announced at Samsung's IFA 2014 conference at the same time as the Note 4 tablet. The report and image support the original May rumors, including the fact that the headset will simply use a Samsung galaxy phone as a screen. A phone slots into the headset and docks via USB, then VR software utilizes the phone's built-in accelerometer, gyroscope, and processor to track a user's head.

The headset is being made exclusively by Samsung, but the software is being co-developed by Oculus VR. In a sense, this device has a similar goal to Google Cardboard, the ultra-cheap VR solution using cardboard and a smartphone that Google introduced at its developer's conference in June. But the Gear VR improves dramatically on that design by making it much more comfortable to wear, and by adding an augmented reality button. In other words, you can press a button on the outside of the headset to activate the rear camera on the phone and see your surroundings.

According to the report, Samsung is focusing on media at launch, with some theater and gallery apps to be compatible with the headset and software. But the company will be opening up the kit to developers soon after the headset's release.

This rumor follows last month's report that Oculus VR is looking for manufacturing and hardware partners, licensing out its software because it does not have the infrastructure to make enough headsets. The Samsung headset seems to be the first of such partnerships.

If real, the Gear VR joins the Oculus Rift for PC and Sony's Project Morpheus headset for PlayStation 4 among the newest wave of virtual reality headsets. If you take part in the expansion during it's roughly month-long launch period, you'll be able to access first wing at no cost, but if you arrive late, you'll have to pay for the first wing separately. However, there are several options in how you pay for it, though. Unless you want to pay with gold. If you want to pay with Hearthstone's in-game currency, the price is a flat 700 gold per wing.

In real world cash, you can either pay:

$7 for each wing individually

$25 for access to all five

$20 for access to four (for if you got free access to the first one and then wanted to pay for the rest)

$15 for three

$10 for two

Keep in mind that there's no advantage to paying real cash for any wing either individually or in a bundle. Blizzard notes, "Keep in mind that purchasing Curse of Naxxramas wings in bundles does not open or grant access to those wings faster than the one-wing-a-week schedule."

While we don't have a specific release date, Blizzard has said they plan on opening the expansion this July (although each week another wing will open). And you'll be able to earn at least 30 cards if you can successfully make it through all of the dungeon's challenges.

If you were worried about the game being too simple, Blizzard has an answer for that as well: Heroic Mode. "Once you've defeated all of the bosses within any given wing for the first time, you'll unlock the Heroic mode of that wing. Heroic mode bosses are significantly more difficult than their normal versions, and they will prove to be a challenge for even the most veteran Hearthstone players." The reward for overcoming those challenges will be a new card back you can use to show off your battlefield prowess.

To me, the price seems fair, especially since the first wing unlocks for free, although I wouldn't have minded a bulk gold discount as well. But what do you think about the cost? More specifically, they won't be included in what EA described as the "base game," fueling concerns that, like with past games, The Sims 4 owners would be inundated with premium expansion packs (some of which would invariably include these missing features). Developer Maxis has now shared some of the thinking that went into its decision, explaining that the omission of pools and toddlers stems not from greed, but a desire to create new technology.

"The fact is, we owe you a clearer explanation for why pools and toddlers will not be in The Sims 4 at launch, so here goes," writes executive producer Rachel Franklin on the official Sims blog. "It begins with new technology and systems that we built for this new base game for The Sims--a new AI system, new animation system, new audio positioning tools, new locomotion logic, new routing intelligence and much more are all entirely new in this game. The vision for The Sims 4 is a new experience that brings your Sims to life in deeper and uniquely personal ways--through emotions, personality traits, behaviors and interactions. To do that, our technology base needed a major upgrade."

To do this, however, requires "trade-offs," which Franklin notes Maxis knew "would disappoint some of our fans. Hard pill to swallow, believe me, but delivering on the vision set out for The Sims 4 required focus." This focus came in the form of an emphasis on Sims and their emotions, as well as new (and admittedly fun-looking) ways of building houses.

As a result, Franklin says, "The Sims 4 is a completely new game, and it feels different to play. You'll notice the new technology base the first time you play." She cites examples like the wide variety of new animations, including 75 different walking styles, as well Sims' ability to multitask and interact with groups, rather than just individuals.

It all sounds a lot less nefarious than some had suspected when we first heard about the absence of pools and toddlers. Of course, there's only so much reassurance EA and Maxis can offer through words, but they'll aim to win fans over in the lead up to launch on September 2, starting with the release of more than 15 minutes of Live mode game footage sometime in the next two weeks. Following that, a demo of the game's Create-a-Sim mode will be released. A select number of people will get to go hands-on with this "very soon," with everyone else getting access "later this summer.

Has today's explanation had any effect on your interest? Today's segment is an interview with founder Sean Murray detailing the gameplay experiences players can expect when the game is finally released.

One component of No Man's Sky is a "traditional" multiplayer mode, Murray told us, though he's keeping tight-lipped about what this will entail. "There is this thing, which I'm not going to talk about now; that is a plan for multiplayer, and for people to have a more traditional multiplayer experience within the game. That's something that we'll deal with further down the line, that is exciting. But that is not what's core to the game right now. We have a laser-sharp focus on what we're going to ship with, basically."

Though No Man's Sky will have some form of multiplayer eventually, it's not a game about forming a clan or allegiances. Murray did admit that the game will have "some MMO-esque mechanics" as it relates to meeting other people in the game's vast world, but your overall goal will be to travel to the center of the universe. Once you do so, "something happens" that is "worthwhile seeking out," Murray teased.

But even when you discover what this secret is, the game doesn't end there, Murray said. Unfortunately, he's not talking about what comes next just yet. Now, the developer is back to point out how the game's sound design is shaping up to blow gamers away.

In the video above, released today, Sledgehammer Games audio director Don Veca says he expects players will immediately notice how much better guns sound in Advanced Warfare. "Right off the bat, one of the things I think gamers are going to notice is the huge improvement to the weapons," Veca said.

Veca said his team didn't just record a weapon sound and import that into Advanced Warfare. Instead, the developer tried to recreate the feeling of what it felt like to fire a weapon as a means to make the player feel like they are really there. The game's guns have been designed so that the "sound goes through your body," Veca said.

Not only will guns sound impressive in Advanced Warfare, Veca says, but because Sledgehammer has built "intelligence" into its audio systems, you will "virtually never hear the same impact or explosion twice."

Advanced Warfare is of course set in the future; 2054 to be exact. However, to make the game's sounds come across as believable, Veca said it was important to ground them in reality.

"It's a futuristic setting, but we want it to be believable," Veca said. "We would always start with something grounded and add new sounds that we created ourselves, mix it in, layer things; so that you come up with something truly unique."

It all comes together, Veca says, to create a sound that rivals that of Hollywood movies. "When you're done, you see all these different audio systems all working together, and it sounds like a movie. But it's not a movie. It's happening right there," he said.

Advanced Warfare launches November 4 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. It was true enough."

This line came in the final moments of The Wolf Among Us' concluding episode, called Cry Wolf, and it was an appropriate proclamation given the episode's murky end. The mystery had been--well, I don't know if "solved" is the proper word, but the case was now closed and it was time to move on. It was time to reflect on what Bigby Wolf had learned, what his decisions had meant for Fabletown and its residents, whose fairy tale lives of the past had been torn apart by murder, prostitution, and social upheaval. It was time to consider that I might have done the right thing for the wrong reasons, or perhaps the wrong thing for the right reasons. I am still not sure which it was, and the game certainly isn't telling me.

I didn't feel all that hopeful. Instead, I was struck by a pervading nihilism as I learned even more information after already making life-changing decisions that affected multiple Fables. Had I done the right thing? Was there a "right" thing at all? It didn't seem so. The truth was now defined by its sliding scale. There was such a thing as "true enough." It was this nihilism that had Bigby--this loyal, gruff, impatient Bigby I'd created through the choices I'd made over the course of the series--lowering his head in shame. "It doesn't matter what I do," he said. "In the end, it's all the same shit it always was."

It's a good thing Fables are so hard to kill; Bigby's smoking habit can't be healthy!

In many ways, this nihilism is fitting for a series that clearly would have no happy ending. I'd confronted Ichabod Crane's lecherous ways in previous installments. I had torn a Fable's arm off, a decision I had to confront every time I glimpsed him out of the corner of my eye. And as it turns out, many Fables had turned to the Crooked Man for assistance when they felt their own leaders had let them down. I don't know that even a government led by Snow could turn this place around, a suspicion verified by a Cry Wolf scene that mirrored one from Episode 1, demonstrating the inhumanity of government bureaucracy. Fables weren't making good choices because there was no good choice to make, no path leading to freedom and happiness. No--I should never have entertained the notion that The Wolf Among Us would come to an easy conclusion.

Nevertheless, I had hoped for a finale that offered a bit more clarity and focus than Cry Wolf does. The episode's climax came to me not by way of a heart-pounding action sequence but rather a roomful of Fables yelling over each other, trying to sway me to make one choice over another. The scene plays out for more time than seems necessary, and is more focused on reminding you of various choices you'd made over the course of the series than it is on revealing anything new or important. "Hey, remember that thing you did two episodes ago? We're going to refer to it now," Cry Wolf seems to say, pointing out that all those choices were just switches you flipped and variables you gave values to. "Hey, remember that character? He doesn't seem to really belong in this scene, but we wanted to remind you he existed."

More smoking.

The action still heats up, however, particularly in an excellent sequence that has you taking on a multitude of attackers. You must keep your eyes glued to the screen, lest you miss a single button prompt and cause Bigby to take a painful blow to the head. In Cry Wolf, there is no turning away from the violence Fabletown has become steeped in--and certainly no turning away from the wolf that has always howled out from within Bigby, hoping one day to exact vengeance. Another action scene, one similar to Episode 1's chase scene, is equally exciting, but doesn't make total sense from a plot perspective, depending on your choices. If they wanted to escape, why would the Fables you chase have chosen the obvious destination?

I'm so glad to have spent time in the Fables world. I'm so glad to have gotten to mold Bigby Wolf into a redeemable hero rather than a seething mass of lupine rage. I'm disappointed by Cry Wolf, not because it suggests that Fabletown is destined to remain troubled, or that it doesn't overtly answer a vital nagging question, but because a few too many events are overtly manufactured to fit the plot's needs, rather than making each event feel like it progressed from those that came before. But there's no denying the episode's emotional impact, even in the midst of some questionable plotting. One goodbye in particular had me close to tears as one of Fabletown's few innocents asked me to pass on a gift to the only Fables who had ever shown him kindness. The road this Fable was soon to take was paved with Bigby's good intentions, but as The Wolf Among Us reminded me in its final episode, such paths may still lead to hell.

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 09:00:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/the-wolf-among-us-episode-5-cry-wolf/1900-6415813/

Sledgehammer recently said that because the game was developed over a period of three years, the studio was able to take "full advantage" of the power of the Xbox One and PS4.

Eddie Makuch is a news editor at GameSpot, and you can follow him on Twitter @EddieMakuch

Got a news tip or want to contact us directly? Tue, 08 Jul 2014 10:01:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/videos/battleborn-reveal-trailer/2300-6420096/ http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/the-wolf-among-us-episode-5-cry-wolf/1900-6415813/
"So what if it wasn't the truth?
